Villa Pueblo
Villa Pueblo Towers is a vibrant senior care facility offering life-care services that include independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing care, and rehabilitation for seniors located in the city of Pueblo and adjoining communities. In response to community needs, Villa Pueblo reached out to RTA Architects to renovate an underutilized assisted living wing into a state-of-the-art rehabilitation area. The newly renovated wing was designed to serve post-acute rehabilitation patients requiring long-term or intermediate care.

Creating a home-like environment was a main priority for the Villa Pueblo design. RTA achieved a comfortable atmosphere by thoughtfully selecting indirect lighting, a warm color palette, comfortable and functional furnishings, and inspirational artwork with a healing theme. Family and patient gathering areas were provided in several locations in hallway alcoves and in defined lounge areas, offering opportunities for patient and family interaction.
One of the biggest challenges of the project was to provide accessible restrooms for the rehabilitation patients who have limited mobility without reducing the number of private rooms. RTA accomplished this by creating built-in closets and re-designing the semi-private restrooms into fully private restrooms with integrated showers, toilets, and maneuvering vanity areas for patients with walkers or in wheelchairs.
