Valley-Wide Health & Wellness Center
Valley-Wide Health Systems, Inc. is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that provides medical, dental, behavioral health, and physical therapy services to rural southern Colorado.
After acquiring an abandoned historic courthouse in Alamosa, Valley-Wide Health retained RTA to transform the Spanish Mission style building into an integrated health center that co-locates their services in one building, improving their ability to serve patients.

The courthouse will be converted into a medical office building that retains the historic character of the original building. Interior modifications will create a primary care clinic, behavioral health services, physical therapy treatment space, conference space, and support areas. The existing exterior arcade will be enclosed and transformed into an interior space with the existing arched openings converted into windows that provide ample daylight to staff and patients. An interior elevator addition and walkway connectors create a continuous flow of travel on the second floor. A new elevator and exterior additions will create walkways to connect the second levels of the historic courthouse to adjacent structures, creating a unified campus that supports integrated care.
RTA facilitated a collaborative design process that included 3P events, meetings with the community, the City of Alamosa Historic Preservation Advisory Committee, and the Alamosa Chamber of Commerce.
