Design Details
Phase I built out two ORs specifically designed for heart surgical procedures. BIM was utilized to facilitate the extensive coordination required to accommodate the overhead boom support structure and medical gas MEP systems within the existing 12 foot high structure.
Phase 2 included renovation of shelled space into a state-of-the-art interventional hybrid OR. The hybrid OR includes a surgical suite with imaging component providing real-time imaging during surgical procedures and nurses station with natural daylighting. The support spaces include a viewing/control room, semi-sterile storage, lead apron storage and gowning area, an equipment storage room, staff work room and restroom facilities.
A collaborative team approach was used involving surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, facilities staff, and building officials. As a result, the multi-phased project was completed on schedule and under budget while the surgery suite maintained continuous operation.
