- Project cost: $2.7M
Design Details
- New gymnasium, locker rooms, kitchen, and commons area
- Full-service kitchen
- Value-driven design
The 17,950-square-foot facility includes a brand new gymnasium, locker rooms, a kitchen, commons area, and other support functions. The addition of the gym building gives Swallows Charter the opportunity to host basketball and volleyball practices and games, which increases school spirit and creates community involvement. The gymnasium was also specifically designed so that the school can host CHSAA sanctioned games, bringing together schools from outside districts. There is also a full-service commercial kitchen with state-of-the-art equipment to provide healthy and nutritious meals for their students
The most challenging aspect of this project was the budget. RTA desired to give the District the best value for their allotted dollars, so the team took an extremely economical approach. The final cost of the building was $145/square foot. RTA also designed a Facilities Master Plan for the District to accommodate future phases of design and construction.
