District 49 Transportation and Maintenance Facility

Peyton, Colorado

Why

Connecting through experience of place.

District 49 is one of the fastest-growing districts in Colorado. District 49 covers the northeast portion of El Paso County and serves more than 21,000 students. With their growing numbers, District 49 retained RTA to plan and design a new Transportation and Maintenance building to serve their ever-increasing needs.

How

Ever curious. Ever learning. Ever improving.

In a collaborative effort, RTA worked closely with District staff through work sessions, user groups, and site visits to help craft the best long-term solution for the District. A site was chosen on an existing sports field complex located between Highway 24 and Falcon Highway.

What

Purposeful, engaging solutions.

The project will be built in multiple phases with an initial phase of a 34,000-square-foot Operations/Maintenance building, visitor parking for 30 cars, and a secure, fenced bus parking lot for 175 buses. Subsequent phases will add additional office space and maintenance bays, fuel islands, a wash building, and additional parking for up to 300 buses and employee parking for 389 vehicles.
