Campus Middle School
Why
A district-wide facilities assessment identified numerous areas at Cherry Creek’s Campus Middle requiring renovation and upgrades: the front entry, science labs, music room upgrades; lighting, electrical, and plumbing upgrades; floor covering and carpeting upgrades; technology infrastructure upgrades; and additional storage.
How
The Campus Middle School project was completed on an extremely tight schedule. In order to prevent the need for temporary classrooms to be placed on the site, construction was completed in 4 ½ months. This tight schedule required very close interaction, communication, and teamwork among the design and construction teams. RTA visited the site regularly to coordinate and assist the contractor in delivering the project on time.
What
A dynamic 600-square-foot building addition created an identifiable entrance that provides additional security and includes a small lobby for gathering space and a waiting area for parent pick-up.
The building renovation included mechanical systems, lighting upgrades, and new finish upgrades throughout. RTA also designed new layouts for administration, counseling, nursing, library, and office areas. The science labs were also upgraded, and a new thrust stage was added to the cafeteria in order to improve the function and acoustics of the space during performances.
