The renovations included the demolition of an unusable portion of existing building and replacement with a new state of the art science core capable of supporting an advanced STEM curriculum. New science labs feature natural daylight, tall ceilings, and acoustical treatments. Care was taken to maintain positive attributes of the existing building and reinforce the character of the mid century original structure while updating and modernizing. The result is an addition that integrates seamlessly into the original architecture while elevating the science program and creating a professional atmosphere that the students respect.
Following completion of the Jefferson High School Master Plan, RTA was retained to design the first phase of the building renovation and renewal. Jeffco Schools desired to address key functional building deficiencies including the creation of a new science core, reorganization of existing classrooms, new kitchen, and a new softball field on an adjacent site.
