Peak Vista Community Health Center Downtown

Colorado Springs, CO

Why

Connecting through experience of place.

For almost 50 years, Peak Vista Community Health Centers has served the community of Colorado Springs, eastern Colorado, and the Pikes Peak region with health care for those who face barriers to access. Their whole-person approach to health care includes medical, dental, and behavioral health services as well as care coordination that connects people to community services and housing. The population facing the greatest barriers to health care are those experiencing homelessness. To best serve this group, Peak Vista retained RTA to design a full-service clinic at the corner of South Tejon and Las Vegas streets. This location is within walking distance of the Springs Rescue Mission, Greenway Flats apartments, and other downtown developments.

How

Ever curious. Ever learning. Ever improving.

RTA held four rounds of user group meetings, two exterior meetings with an executive team, and a 3P meeting with Peak Vista staff including staff of the facility who will be occupying the new building.

What

Purposeful, engaging solutions.

The Health Center Downtown serves as an expansion of Peak Vista’s whole-person, family health center model, including the provision of medical, dental, and social and behavioral health services in a patient-centered accessible design. The Health Center Downtown provides expanded services for those at risk of, or who are currently experiencing, homelessness, as well as providing care to a quickly growing number of residents and their families near downtown Colorado Springs. The clinic includes six medical exam rooms, four dental operatories, two behavioral health rooms, a conference room, staff break areas, and a flex office for partnerships with other agencies.
